Analytics settings
Optional analytics stay off until you allow them.
What we measure
If you allow it, Google Analytics records article visits, time spent reading while the page is active, reading depth and clicks to videos or JTal service pages. It uses cookies to distinguish visits. Blog activity is collected in a separate stream within JTal’s existing Google Analytics property. Clicks to the main website show interest; they do not confirm an inquiry or a sale.
We send the article address, not its search parameters. We do not send the words you type into article search, email contents or form entries. Advertising storage, advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in the blog tag.
Declining does not affect the articles. We remember this choice in your browser for up to six months. You can change it here. Turning analytics off clears the Google Analytics cookies available to this blog, including shared JTal cookies. The main website has its own settings.
Cloudflare also provides basic, cookie-free traffic and performance measurements for the blog. These settings control optional Google Analytics; Cloudflare’s separate measurements may still include your visits. Browser privacy controls and extensions can block analytics, so reports never represent every reader.
For more about how these services handle data, see Google’s privacy policy, Cloudflare’s privacy policy and the JTal privacy policy.
For editors
Exclude this browser while writing, checking links or testing the site. The exclusion applies to blog Google Analytics and stays on until you remove it.
Local diagnostic mode is available by opening this page with ?analytics=debug. It displays test events below without sending them to Google.
